Stewardship FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)
What is Stewardship?
- Stewardship is not only making monetary gifts to God but also includes gifts of our time, talents and abilities.
Why should I pledge, when I give regularly to the Church?
- Pledging allows the church to budget for program expenses, if there were no pledges many programs would be cut due to lack of funds.
If I make an annual pledge and my source of income is reduced or eliminated due to lay offs, illness or disability, am I still obligated to make the annual pledge?
- Your pledge amount is between you and our Lord. If you fall into difficult times the Lord will know it and understand.
When I enter my pledge on the pledge form I feel obligated and am uncomfortable if I fall short of the pledge amount.
- It is not an obligation. Some members pledge a lower amount and increase that amount if times are good.
How much should I pledge? I give to other charities, should I consider them?
- The amount you give to the church is between you and our Lord, how you allocate your available funds between the church and the charities you support is an important decision you will need to make.
I received a Time & Talent Survey form, what is the purpose of this form?
- It is an indication of interest. This form allows you to indicate areas of interest that you may be willing to give of your time, talents and abilities in service to God within our Church.
Why should I complete the Time & Talent Survey?
- When you return the completed form, we can accurately match those who have expressed a particular interest to areas where we need help serving the Lord.
