🌿 What Is Ash Wednesday? (United Methodist Tradition)

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent—a 40-day season of repentance, reflection, and preparation for Easter. In the United Methodist Church, ashes are placed on the forehead in the sign of the cross as a reminder of our mortality and our need for God’s grace.

The words spoken, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return,” call us to humility, repentance, and renewal. Ash Wednesday invites us to turn our hearts toward God, to examine our lives honestly, and to begin again—trusting in God’s mercy and steadfast love.
